Will I regret writing this? Probably yes. Crannaig House is not what you expect looking at those beautiful pictures. It is so much more than that! It goes far and beyond an upmarket, recently fully renovated boutique guest house. It goes far and beyond the clean sheets, the modern shower, the cozy fireplace or the great location in the middle of everything and yet so very quiet and secluded. Here it is all about every single detail you can think of that makes your stay the best personalised experience you can have. The passion, creativity and love of the owners is everywhere: from their welcoming smile to the perfectly cooked food of your choice (based on local products) or the way they engage with their guests and then withdraw, the champagne in the jacuzzi, the spotlessly clean windows that frame a view out of this world and the coaster right where it should be for your tea. Three generations of our family could stay there forever! My mother in law loved the easily accessible ground floor room and our young adult children the very top floor they had to themselves. Thank you for pampering us. I may regret writing this review when I won’t be able to find a spare room to book as I hope we will see each other soon so my daughter can finish the Dutch book she was reading from your library.

Crannaig house is so nice and sweet, it was our first day in Scotland and that was perfect start of our trip! I liked the house itself and our room. Everything is extremely clean, new, quality linen, big fluffy towels, soaps, cream and shampoo by Scottish natural Highland Soap company. We also got a sweet present, homemade here in Aberfoyle. Please don’t hesitate to have breakfasts and dinner at Crannaig House, because Shaun is excellent cook and everything was so delicious! Also Shaun gave us some suggestions for our rout. Thank you very much and best wishes!

Unbelievable hospitality from a fantastic hosting couple. This is what luxury and comfort should be, combined with a perfect location surrounded by an ancient woodland on the edge of the Highlands. Amazingly fresh food (fish and shellfish caught locally, Angus beef), a roaring fire and first class wine in a setting that you won’t forget in a hurry.

Crannaig House elevates the experience of staying in a guest house to that of staying in a small, luxury/boutique hotel. The location is perfect, being in Aberfoyle which is in the heart of the Trossachs. The guest house itself is luxuriously appointed, with high quality, spacious rooms fitted out with all the comforts you would need or want - excellent beds and bedding, tasteful fittings and flooring and, overall, a very pleasing design sensibility. Lots of thoughtful 'convenience' touches are present, too. (eg bedside phone adaptors, Nespresso coffee machines, robes.) Worth noting, too, in the context of the rooms, is that Crannaig House has a ground-floor, level-access room, with a walk-in shower, which was ideal for my wife who has mobility issues and cannot manage stairs or baths. The food and drink offered at Crannaig House is excellent, as is the accompanying service. It's worth mentioning, too, that a fine range of alcoholic drinks are offered at prices where the mark up is far from punitive. Perhaps most importantly, the hosts - Shaun and Kate, seem brilliantly suited to running an enterprise like this. They are welcoming, warm, engaging, friendly, solicitous and helpful. They also have achieved that delicate art of being all those things without being intrusive in any way. They can 'read the room' in terms of what kind of help you might want at any time and, conversely, when you want to be left alone. (Given that they have been running Crannaig House for such a relatively short time - and that this is their first venture into the hospitality business - this is an amazing achievement.) So, if you're looking for a high quality, homely, pampering, luxury guest house experience in The Trossachs, treat yourself to a few days at Crannaig House.

We had a wonderful stay at Crannaig House. Shaun and his wife gave us an incredibly warm welcome. The room was very comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. The dinner prepared by Shaun and his wife was delicious, and the breakfast was generous and excellent. We felt truly at home. We highly recommend this place and will gladly come back.

Shaun had set up a fantastic facility, the house is amazing inside with so much space. Our room was huge and had fantastic views over the wooded grounds. Bed/bedding was extremely comfy with the added touches of luxury with a Nespresso machine and Highland soaps. Really great breakfast while watching the hundreds of small wild birds on the feeders. We were walking the Rob Roy Way and Shaun gave us some tips and we were able to see the waterfall and a red squirrel just up the hill from the house. Many thanks

We had a fantastic stay. Shaun and Kate’s warm hospitality and all the homely touches were lovely. Everything around the property, from the room to the garden was immaculate and of very high standard. And it was incredible being able to relax in the hot tub with a drink, while watching a herd of local deer roam the garden. I couldn’t recommend the hosts, the property, the views or the location highly enough. It’s a beautiful guest house in a beautiful area. We will definitely be back.
